The dad of Arsenal target Goncalo Guedes has advised his son to remain with Benfica despite external interest.
Sources in Portugal revealed that scouts from the Emirates Stadium have watched the playmaker in recent months.
Rogerio Guedes however feels it isn't the right time for his son to leave and as such wants him to stay put with his current employers.
Speaking in an interview with TSF Radio, he said: ‘I have full confidence in the direction of Benfica. When the right time comes, he will leave. But it’s not something on his horizon right now.
"If it has to happen, let it be better for him and the club. He turned 20 recently, has a lot to learn and I believe that those responsible are aware of his situation.
"You must continue to work and think day to day to get as far as possible. He should not be a star before he is. You have to continue to be humble and hard-working and you will see what happens in the future."
Guedes plays in a similar role as Mesut Ozil and has bagged seven goals, nine assists in 27 games this season.
