Striker Olivier Giroud has stated that he is on the verge of signing a new improved contract at Arsenal.

The 30-year-old seemed to fall out of the ranks shortly after his return from injury but he has now revive the fans' and manager's faith in him with his recent contributions.

Giroud has scored in all last four games for the Gunners - one against West Bromwich Albion, a scorpion flick goal against Crystal Palace, another against Bournemouth and most recently in the FA Cup third round clash with Preston North End.

Rewind back to October and you'll see he bagged a brace as a substitute after making a return from injury in the game against Sunderland.

All these and many more explains why the club want to tie him down to a new deal before it's too late.

In an interview with French broadcaster Telefoot, Giroud said: "We are about to reach an agreement for an extension (to my contract).

"It was also a gesture of confidence, I want to continue the adventure here in this family of Arsenal. I feel good here."

Giroud added: "When I spoke to the coach, he always told me that I was an important player.

"I know what I am capable of. I just needed to be patient, to work in training and wait for my hour to come."
