5th March, 2014: International Round-Up.

Some of our players were called up by their various countries to participate in friendly and Euro U21 qualification matches yesterday. Among them were Tomas Rosicky, Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Szczesny, Fabianski, Sagna, Koscielny, Giroud etc.

Rosick continued his exploits after signing a new contract as he struck the opener for Czech in their 2-2 draw against Norway. That goal came just 11 minutes into the game. It was my birthday present from our Little Mozat.

Ozil and Mertesacker were included in Germany's starting lineup against Chile and guess what?? The only goal of the night in that encounter was assisted by Mesut11. Poldi later came on as a substitute.

Just as we presently witness at Arsenal, Szczesny started ahead of Fabianski in their side's 0-1 loss to Scotland. The latter was quite unfortunate as he had to warm the bench throughout the clash.

Rosicky Scores for Czech

None of our players in the French national team started the game. Giroud and Sagna were involved towards the end of their country's 2-0 win over The Netherlands while Koscielny was an unused substitute. It was rumoured after the game that the Arsenal centre-back is a doubt for our coming FA Cup tie against Everton. Who knows if his omission from the game was a precautionary one.

For England, Wilshere started the game but Chamberlain came on as a sub. England beat Denmark 1-0 in a game where our very own Nicklas Bendtner played in. Jenkinson began and finished as the England U21 side secured a 1-0 victory against Wales in the Euro Qualifiers.

Sanogo was in action for the French U21 side. He played  for 56 minutes as they recorded a 1-0 win against Belarus. Seven minutes was all little man Santi Cazorla could get against Italy. It ended 1-0.
