Arsenal midfielders Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey have followed in the footsteps of Tomas Rosicky.and Per Mertesacker as both have signed new long-term contracts.

Ramsey who has not played any game for the Gunners since December 2013 is believed to have extended his stay at the club till 2019. The Welshman has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances this season making the present campaign his best in the last five years.

Cazorla and Ramsey Sign New Contracts

Cazorla on the other hand penned an extension till 2017. The 29-year old Spaniard was Arsenal Player of the Season in the 2012/13 campaign.

"Cazorla and Ramsey are key players for us. This news is a boost to the whole club," said Arsene Wenger.

23-year old Ramsey whose influence has not gone unnoticed since joining Arsenal from Cardiff City in 2008 has so far made 177 appearances for the North-Londoners. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation after suffering a thigh injury last year and would be seen on the pitch any moment from now

"I've been here for six years and I'm so happy," said Ramsey. "I think we've shown so far this season what we're all about and the direction that this club wants to go in.

"I want to be a part of that, and to be a part of something special at Arsenal."

Former Malaga man also had something to say concerning his experience and targets at the club.

"I have had a great time with the club since joining nearly two years ago, and I think that we can be a big player in competing for the top trophies in years to come and that's important for me," said Cazorla.

Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem has been given a professional deal. The 17-year old German international has shown he can be the next big thing at the club since joining in January 2013. Everyone who watched him in pre-season will agree he is a prospect who if closely monitored will become a great player. He made his debut in Arsenal's 4-0 win against Coventry in the FA Cup.

"Gedion is very young of course, but he has shown already that he has fantastic promise, and we all look forward to his development with us.", Wenger said.

I am so happy with the way Arsenal are now handling contract matters. Acting fast is the best approach in this area. You don't have to wait till a player has one year left on his contract before offering him another. We've lost a lot of players already and that's why the club has wised up.
