With Olivier Giroud being the only established striker present in the Arsenal team at the moment, Wenger may consider another bid for the Frenchman. You might be wondering why I said Giroud was the only striker we have. Well, Nicklas Bendtner is now a free agent. He has been released by the club as they do not wish to retain him after various misconducts which includes his harassment of a taxi driver in Copenhagen on the night Arsenal was in Germany playing their return leg fixture against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16.
Yaya Sanogo on the other hand is not yet ready to earn a permanent slot in the first team. Though a prospect he still needs some more time to prove he is ready to lead the line. Wenger is believed to enjoy good relations with the Real hierarchy and this was what made his signing of Mesut Ozil for a club record fee possible.
Speculations have now resurrected after Wenger made some statements while running commentary on the Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Champions League final match on French TV. What he uttered looks like a hint. He said that the game may be the last for the striker at Madrid and that he was sure he will one day play in the English Premier League.
“Benzema could play his last game for Real Madrid today”, said the Arsenal manager. I am sure he [Benzema] will play in the Premier League one day.”
If a move is made for the 26-year old whose chances at the Bernabeu has diminished then the stress on Giroud will be eased. Giroud featured in almost all Arsenal games last season, giving him less time for rest. He can at least get a partner in the coming campaign. Real Madrid are trying to sign any of Luis Suarez or Radamel Falcao so it's clear Benzema will be sold out if they succeed in their dealings.
