Wenger in his quest to make the Gunners major title contenders has already made two potential signings; Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy. He is also said to be in the hunt for a defensive midfielder who is believed to be Khedira. Asked in an interview about the news that he is interested in the German international, he answered saying he is still going to add to his squad but would not mention any names.
"Look, I can't give you any names, Wenger said.
"What is good is that Arsenal's German internationals won the World Cup so their confidence should be stronger. Winning makes you only stronger and more confident and hopefully we'll benefit from that next season."
Despite his agent stating last week that no club has made an inquiry over the availability of Sami, the tabloids are claiming a fee had already been agreed between the star and Arsenal. Meanwhile, his wages still remain a stumbling block.
It is expected the deal will be done and dusted before the week runs out. Chelsea are also in the chase.
Last season's FA Cup winning manager also revealed after his side defeated Boreham Wood 2-0 that he is surely going to bring in a goalkeeper to replace Lukasz Fabianski who left the Emirates at the end of the season.
