Arsenal after a long wait for glory finally broke the jinx last season, defeating Hull City in extra time to win the prestigious trophy on May 17, 2014. Manchester City on the other hand battled hard with Liverpool for the EPL title and luckily for them, they got crowned on the last matchday of the season.
The Gunners have won twelve times in the Community Shield while the Etihad outfit will be looking to claim their fifth having previously won four. Though a friendly match, it is expected to be tense as there is something attached to it and both teams would want to start the new campaign on a positive note.
Before the clash begins let us take a quick look at the lineup for the Arsenal side.
Starting XI: Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla, Sanogo
Subs: Martinez, Monreal, Flamini, Campbell, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud.
Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski were excluded because they are still easing off stress after their World Cup outing in Brazil. David Ospina couldn't make it as a result of a minor injury he is battling with.
Wishing Arsenal all the best in today's game. See you after the game. Come on You Gunners!
