Arsenal Thump Manchester City 3-0 to Win 2014 FA Community Shield

Arsenal beat Manchester City 3-0 at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon to win the 2014 FA Community Shield trophy, their 13th in the competition.

History repeated itself in that game. Santi Cazorla who opened scoring on this same ground in the FA Cup final did the same as he slot in the first goal of the match in the 21st minute. It was Jack Wilshere who passed on the ball to the edge of the area, letting the Spanish midfielder send a low shot into the corner.

Aaron Ramsey who was the hero in Arsenal's FA Cup final win over Hull City in May showed he can always score anytime he plays on the turf of the Wembley Stadium. He doubled Arsenal's lead three minutes to half time after Yaya Sanogo layed him on to allow the Welshman make a clinical finish. 2-0 it was at half time.

The second half began and Arsenal made three changes. Olivier Giroud, one of the players who came on as substitutes did not take too long to make an impact on the game. In the 60th minute, the Frenchman picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and took a shot into the roof of the net. There was a slight deflection from that attempt. At fulltime it was Arsenal 3-0 Manchester City.

Arsenal were the better side throughout the match and they so deserved to be crowned. It was a friendly but fans were impressed with the spirit put in by the lads and hoped they carried that on to the new season. The FA Cup came few months ago, now it is the Community Shield. Who knows if the Premier League or even the Champions League is the next trophy to arrive the Gunners' trophy cabinet.

Congratulations to Arsenal. This is a sign of good things to come.
