Transfer Business Still Going on at Arsenal, Says Wenger.

Arsene Wenger admitted during his pre-Emirates Cup press conference that he is so delighted with the progress Arsenal have made in the summer transfers and revealed he is still in for business.

With Alexis Sanchez, David Ospina, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers already in, the manager believes the void created by the departures of Bacary Sagna and Lukas Fabianski who left for Manchester City and Swansea respectively have been filled. However he is not ruling out the signing of more players as he aims at making some additions before the window finally shuts on August 31st.

"I'm very happy because I did what I wanted, and I am still open to do more," said the Arsenal manager.

"Let's not forget that we are at the first of August today, and the transfer window closes on the 31st. For years I didn't sit with [the media] here on the first of August having done quite a lot [of business].

"We are a bit ahead of what we usually do, because the availability on the market was bigger and earlier than before," explained Wenger.

"The bigger clubs have done their deals earlier, and when one starts everybody follows, and that's why it was a bit quicker. Many clubs decided to do it before the World Cup, and since the World Cup was over, not a lot has happened. But I think the second half of August, the 15th to 30th, will be busy again.

"Everyone takes a breather at the moment because everyone checks in their preparation games what they still need. People have done the biggest part of what they want to do and the last part will be done after the preparation games to see what you miss."

This news will be a source of joy for many Arsenal supporters who are hoping to see more players arrive at the Emirates Stadium after the first four recruits. Just like Oliver Twist, they are asking for more. My interaction with a few of them has made it clear that an established defensive midfielder and a striker are their priorities for now.

UPDATE: Due to popular demand, I decided to provide this information. A bunch of Arsenal fans keep asking me 'What time is the Emirates Cup 2014'?

Today, August 2 which is the first day of the 2-day tournament Valencia will be playing the opener against AS Monaco at 14:00 (2:00pm Nigerian time) while the Arsenal v Benfica tie will kick off by 16:20 (04:20pm Nigerian time).

On Sunday August 3 it will be Benfica v Valencia at 14:00 (2:00pm Nigerian time) then the final game will be between Arsenal and AS Monaco by 16:20 (04:20pm Nigerian time). Hope this helps.
