With the look of things Arsene Wenger is trying to change the views of people towards him as a selling manager. The 64-year old had received in the past so much criticism for selling his best players to his league rivals but as I speak, he is on the verge of making amends.
Thomas Vermaelen who has one year left on his contract has made up his mind to join a club where he will be guaranteed regular playing time. According to the tabloids, Old Trafford is his likely destination but with Barcelona also interested, the Arsenal manager is not willing to sell to Manchester United. The Frenchman revealed he wants his captain to remain at the club but that the Belgian will be replaced if he decides to go somewhere else which will most likely not be Manchester.
To make matters worse for United Arsenal have ignited a move for one of the Red Devil's top summer targets, Mats Hummels. Wenger is set to go an extra mile to see that he secures the capture of the German international even if that means he will have to part with a sum of £30 million. The 2014 World Cup winner being one of the best centre-backs in the game will no doubt be a good investment for the Gunners.
Hummels' pursuit might mean Vermaelen is bound for the exit gates of the Emirates Stadium because I do not see any reason why Arsenal will want to sign a top centre-back when they know they will hold on to their captain. Doing such will make it more difficult for the Verminator to even make the bench.
