The new recruit signed for the North-London club from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window and has since made applaudable displays. After a few games for Arsenal, the Frenchman joined fellow compatriot Olivier Giroud on the sideline. He fell down and twisted his ankle during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Emirates two weeks ago and after scans were conducted last Friday, an operation was recommended.
“He has had surgery and will be out for three months,” Wenger said to the club official website. “A reasonable delay is three months.
“It all went well, but it can be a week or two earlier or a week or two later, but it will be around three months.
“It is a blow of course, how big it will be we will only know afterwards because it will be down to how well we replace him. We bought [Calum] Chambers for that.”
This is a real big blow for Arsenal because they have lost their first choice right-back when the season has not even gone far. Now Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin will now be the ones to take charge in that department since Carl Jenkinson is out on loan at Westham United.
