He was not included in the Arsenal team that played against Westham United yesterday despite impressing in his previous appearance some days ago and many got surprised why this was so.
Some fans even hit out at the manager when the lineup was released as they wanted an explanation from Arsene Wenger for making such a decision. In defence, the Frenchman has come out to give his reason for dropping Tomas Rosicky from Sunday's derby.
At his post-match press conference, the Frenchman explained that leaving the Czech Republic midfielder out was a precaution because he had some minor fitness issues after the Queens Park Rangers game in which he scored the second goal for the Gunners. Considering the number of games Arsene Wenger's men will have to play within a short time, it would have been stupid of the manager if he had played him and eventually worsened his condition.
“I just gave him a complete recovery today“, said the 64-year-old. “When I took him off with 10 minutes to go against QPR he had cramps in the calves and in the hamstrings, so I didn’t want to take a gamble.”
Now you know why the Little Mozat was unused in our 2-1 victory over Westham. Thanks to Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck who made us end the year 2014 in a positive style. We hope for more of this in the New Year. But wait... Why was Lukas Podolski not used at all? I am still waiting for an explanation for that.
