Arsenal Football Club have agreed to let their striker leave by accepting a bid which will seal a permanent deal. The destination of the player is still unknown as at the time of making this update.
Benik Afobe is reportedly set to join a Championship club which unconfirmed sources claim to be Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Arsenal academy product is currently on loan at MK Dons. He has scored 19 goals for them so far this season - a stat which shows he has got great quality.
The 21-year-old would have been a superstar for the Gunners in years to come but with the level of competition in the team right now this is just the best decision to be taken so as not to allow him waste away. The presence of Yaya Sanogo and Chuba Akpom in the Arsenal squad is another factor to consider. These two still find it hard getting games so I see no reason why we should keep too many players who won't get playtime.
The revelation about Afobe's permanent move which will see his loan deal come to an end was revealed tonight by MK Dons manager, Karl Robinson.
“Benik is officially speaking to another Championship club,” said Dons boss Robinson.
“We can’t say who that’s to but he’s having a medical somewhere and he is maybe moving onto other things.
“We wish him good luck.”
The fee involved is still unknown but it is expected that after a successful loan spell, Afobe would have added more value compared to when he was still at Arsenal.
Flashback to August 2014 and you would remember Afobe was in the team that sent Manchester United out of the Capital One Cup. He scored twice in their 4-0 win over the Red Devils.
It looks as if Wenger is trying to reduce the unnecessary excesses in the team to make room for new signings. Podolski left first on loan to Inter then Olsson was sold out to FC Midtjylland. Sanogo is also on the verge of completing a loan move and now it's Benik who is leaving permanently.

There was no need for Sanogo and the money spent on Welbeck could have been spent on a central defender. Afobe should have been playing in the first team rather than the average Welbeck and Sanogo. Shame to see such a talent leave.
ReplyDeleteI had that same thought. Since Afobe had proven himself at the Arsenal Youth side, he should have gotten promoted instead of the signing of Sanogo.
