Ex-Arsenal and Liverpool stars have stated that Chelsea striker Diego Costa overstepped his bounds in last night's Capital One Cup game. The duo did not approve of Costa's display in that semi-final clash against Liverpool.
The Spanish striker at different points stamped on Emre Can and Martin Skrtel. He also clashed with Steven Gerrard and in that game which Chelsea won 1-0, 2-1 on aggregate to progress to the final of the competition, Thierry Henry thinks Costa was too brutal and should have been given a red card.
He said: "I love the aggressiveness but I think he went a bit too far there. I think it was a red. (on the Emre Can incident) The referee didn't see it, the linesman didn't see it, fourth offical didn't see it, but I think it was a red."
Another analyst Jamie Redknapp also spoke on the incident.
He said on Costa: "There's a fine line between an aggressive action and a violent action, but he's crossed it."
I know some will say it's part of the game but there is a limit to the way players should be aggressive. His fouls would have been so clear if such tackles of Costa had resulted into serious injuries for his victims. Whether the FA will take retrospective actions against the Premier League's highest goal scorer is what I do not know.
I expect Jose Mourinho to throw some shots back at Thierry Henry for what he just said. You know the Portuguese is someone who had been anti-Arsenal for so long and since Henry has a strong link with the Gunners, he might just hit back as if the words came from the mouth of Wenger. I would be surprised if Mou keeps quiet over this.
