It is that period again when clubs engage in transfer activities. We see players go while others come in. Not just that, contracts are also being given to existing players. Rumours fly about like birds in the sky.
This time, it is Arsenal who have given professional contracts to two players - Chiori Johnson and Tyrell Robinson. This is the first for the duo.
Johnson is a talented right back wIth an accurate distribution rate. He has constantly featured for the Gunners both in the Under-18 Premier Academy League and the Under-19 UEFA Youth League this season. He has also made three appearances for the Under-21s. The 17-year-old Englishman graduated from the Arsenal Hale End academy and has since impressed on various fronts.
Also 17 years of age, Robinson, a winger who has got a clear eye for goal has put pen to paper with the North-London side. He has four goals in seven appearances for the Arsenal Under-18 side so far in the present campaign, one of which came against Galatasaray in the UEFA Youth League. He has played twice for the Under-21s this season.
Robinson has got pace, skill and good ball control and many believe he can fill the void left by Lukas Podolski who is currently on loan at Internazionale.
Arsene Wenger is known for handing youngsters chances to showcase themselves in the first team just as we have seen with Szczesny, Wilshere, Akpom, Zelalem, Gnabry etc. and these duo might just get same in the near future. Wishing them success as they move a step forward in their football career.
