Who is the man that dealt with Chelsea on New Year Day? Harry Kane that's you. Hahahaa!!!! It was quite funny how Arsenal lost to Southampton and some Blues fans began to mock us not knowing they would be heavily *kaned* that evening.
Kane who scored twice against Jose Mourinho's side graduated from the Tottenham Hotspur Academy before getting called up into the first team where he is currently doing exploits. His contributions to the team in the area of goalscoring this season has made him become the fans' favourite at White Hart Lane. They keep singing his praises calling him 'one of our own' but little do they know that the lad previously tasted football experience with their North-London rivals.
There came a revelation on Brentford's Matchday Programme which showed that Kane actually started out at Arsenal but got sent out by the Gunners when he struggled to make it there. Nico Yennaris who is a former Arsenal player now at Brentford said that himself, Kane, Afobe and many others were together at Arsenal at a time when they were still very young. He returned to his local side before being snatched by Spurs.
From the picture above, Harry Kane is the one with a yellow circle drawn round his head at the far left. The photo was taken on his eight birthday at a summer tournament in 2001.
Talking about stars in his age group who have stepped up to become professional, Yennaris said: "There's quite a few.
"Chuks Aneke, Benik Afobe, Harry Kane and Ryan Fredericks.
"Harry got let go at a young age and I think Ryan was released at under-16s and they both went to Tottenham, and are doing well for themselves now."
Harry Kane has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Spurs this season and many believe that this will make Arsenal regret letting him go. I don't think so. We've got loads of players in our U21 side who can do as well as he is doing. The only problem is that there is no place for them in the first team at the moment.
