Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal for Barcelona in the summer of 2011 and in his first interview at the Camp Nou, he talked about his desire to return to Arsenal someday. He even said that the only side he can play for aside Barcelona is Arsenal but unfortunately, he found himself at Chelsea last summer.
It wasn’t as if Chelsea was the side he wanted to sign for. Fabregas waited for Arsenal to re-sign him but Arsene Wenger was no longer interested so he had no other choice than to pen a 5-year deal with the Blues.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he never for once anticipated ever joining Chelsea.
“I never imagined I could end up at Chelsea a few months ago, especially bearing in mind my past at Arsenal,” the 27-year-old said.
“But you can never rule out anything in football.”
The Spanish star went on to stress the vital role Jose Mourinho played to see that the transfer was successful.
"I had no trouble making a decision after I had opted to leave Barcelona. I had to be selfish and look at the best option for myself," he added.
"I spoke with Mourinho and I had made my decision within 10 minutes. He convinced me to join Chelsea."
