Arsenal To Sign Bayern Munich Star for £30million?

The Daily Express today reported that Arsenal have started procedures to snatch up a Bayern Munich midfielder who is not settled at the club and is looking to continue his career elsewhere.

Mario Gotze is a nice player and everyone will expect that after his great show of class at Borussia Dortmund and with Germany at the World Cup, he will be a regular starter in Pep Guardiola's team. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case as the 22-year-old has to watch most times from the bench. This is so because of the many quality players present in that team.

According to former Liverpool star, Dietmar Hamann, this development has made him unhappy.

In an interview on Goal, he said: “Mario Gotze is badly out of form and Bayern Munich are highly likely to sell him.

“He’s not happy at the club, and the club aren’t happy with him. When that’s the case it’s better all round to have a parting of the ways.

“Bayern will want to get back roughly what they paid for Gotze but whether anyone is willing to cop a £30m fee is another matter.”

We will all agree that Gotze is talented. He's got an eye for superb passes and knows how well to dismantle teams' defence but I do not think his signing by Arsenal is necessary.

We have a host of players who can do what he does perfectly well so spending £30million on him would make no sense. That would be understandible only if those presently doing the job are not capable but as far as I and every other Arsenal fan is concerned, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla are all okay for us.

What we should focus on right now is how to acquire the services of a quality holding midfielder who can create competition for in-form Francis Coquelin.

We won't take this news too serious for now. It's just like every other rumour we have heard in the past. There are just two things involved. It's either true or false.
