Arsene Wenger Expects Forward To Sign for Arsenal.

Arsenal have in times past strived to tie down players to long-term contracts by offering them new deals but in most cases, ended up losing such players. Van Persie, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri are just a few of them.

There is still this contract issue that has to be sorted out so fast lest Arsenal lose their star man to other clubs. Speculations are already springing up linking the former Southampton man with a Liverpool move.

It's Theo Walcott who is the latest man in a contract saga. His current deal will expire next year so the club want him to renew his deal before the new season starts.

It's still unknown if the English international will want to remain at the club having seen himself dropped to the bench in many of our recent games.

But Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the forward who helped his side secure victory with his hattrick against West Brom will soon strike a deal with the club. He expects Theo to remain at the Emirates.

“Without a hat-trick, with a hat-trick, we want him to stay,” Wenger said. “We are in negotiations. We are starting to speak with his agent, and that is before he had made his hat-trick.

“Theo is a good scorer, but he has been out for a year. A year in a football is a long, long time, and it takes time to be back at your best, [to regain] your sharpness and confidence.

“I have always said that he can play in the middle because he has good movement and good finishing. He did that well today.

“I hope he stays free of injuries now. He has had a few doubts on the injury front, and that is never good. You have to be consistently present to express your full potential.”

It will be a big blow to Arsenal if they lose their Lamborghini winger so soon. Walcott is still a very good player judging from his performance of late. Even though he has not featured for a large part of the season as a result of injury, he has been able to score 5 goals in 14 Premier League appearances. That's fair enough considering the fact that a particular guy who was on loan at a rival club from a club in France managed only 4 goals from 26 league appearances. You know him.
