It has been confirmed by a former Italian international that Gonzalo Higuain will be making a switch to Arsenal this summer.
The Argentine international has been of interest to Arsene Wenger for years. His attempts to sign him in 2013 hit the rock but now that Napoli have failed to qualify for next season's Champions League, they have opened the way for the Gunners to snatch Higuain from them.
Jose Alberti claimed the 27-year-old is close to finalising his move to the Emirates Stadium as the ex-Napoli star even gave an estimate of what his annual earnings will be.
The Metro website quoted him as saying: "I'm 90 per cent sure he will go to Arsenal.
"The contract could be a minimum of £3.6million-a-year.
"It's not possible that he will remain at Napoli this year after they missed out on the Champions League."
Higuain scored 18 goals and created seven assists in 37 league games for Napoli last season but is apparently bent on a summer transfer away from the Italian club.
