An Italian football journalist, Tancredi Palmeri has disclosed that Arsenal truly made a €45million bid for Karim Benzema but that the Real Madrid turned it down as they currently have no interest in the deal.
The rumour mill has continued to link the 27-year-old striker with an Emirates switch and with the latest revelation from this reliable source, the news may be true afterall even though Arsene Wenger denied such.
Benzema's days are getting numbered at the Santiago Bernabeu now that new arrival Rafa Benitez wants to start playing Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo as main striker beginning from the 2015/16 season. He dropped Benzema in their last friendly game and played Bale instead. It was an experiment which may turn out successful, thereby limiting Benzema's chances of playing regularly.
The next few weeks will tell if any tangible deal will occur between Arsenal and the Spanish giants regarding the transfer of the French striker.
