Spanish giants, Real Madrid are considering Arsenal's second bid for sensational striker, Karim Benzema as per reports from the Metro.
As the new season approaches and there is still need to strengthen his attack, Arsene Wenger has made a number of moves for quality strikers, none of which has been successful so far. We have heard names like Jackson Martinez, Fernando Llorente and others but none of these looked as if they were going to happen afterall except for that of Benzema.
It's been so long Wenger has been letting his intention of getting Benzema publicly known and now, he seems to be greatly in need of him. Last month, he reportedly made an initial bid of £30.5million which was rejected.
Another has been tabled and talks are still on with Real Madrid over a possible switch for the French striker who once played for Olympique Lyon. We have been made to believe that £40million is the new bid price and Madrid are still in negotiations with the Gunners.
The boost in Arsenal's pursuit of Benzema is that Rafa Benitez hopes on converting Cristiano Ronaldo to a centre-forward and if done, Karim would find it hard to play considering the formation type at the club. For this reason, leaving the club will be the best option.
Arsene Wenger is prepared to make Benzema the highest paid above Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. He is expected to earn £160 000-a-week when he joins the Gunners.
