Ozil: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo Are Not Worth €50 Million.

Arsenal midfielder and German international, Mesut Ozil has expressed his fears over the possibility of football losing its credibility, owing from the way players are being valued.

While speaking in an interview with Express, the assist king admitted he was not worth the amount Arsenal paid to sign him from Real Madrid during the summer transfers of 2013. The Gunners paid a whopping €50 million (£42.5m) for his acquisition.

According to Ozil, that amount was too much for a player. He also went on to establish the fact that no player in the world is worth that amount of money, not even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Nobody in the world is worth €50 million," he told Express.

"We must be careful in football that we do not lose the grip of our credibility."

"And it is also important that, through the opportunities football offers, we do good and help."

Commenting on Arsenal's toughest opponents in the group stage of the Champions League, the World Cup gold medalist said that he believes Bayern Munich are capable of winning the title.

"Bayern are one of the strongest teams in the world and they can beat just about any opponent," he added.

"Some other teams will have a say in it, but why can't Bayern win the competition? They are in a narrow circle of favourites.
