Arsenal Crash Out + Injury Update on Ox and Walcott

It was a night to forget as Arsenal got trashed 3-0 by Championship side, Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday. The outing was not an impressive one from the boys who were picked.

We saw a very different squad from the one we are used to. A number of youth players were picked alongside some first team stars who currently do not have starting spots in the team. Nevertheless, it wasn't a bad one as some saw it. It's a shame that a number of supporters were quick to blame Arsene Wenger for making such a team selection. As usual the WengerOut Brigade sprung up once again.

Still on the issue of whether the team was capable of winning or not, the former is the case. Despite fielding some newbies, we had the likes of Olivier, Giroud, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott who could have made great impact on that game but the early losses of the Ox and Theo crushed the game plan. We would had done better with the presence of these two.

Rotation is healthy for the team. We cannot keep playing the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil week-in week-out. They aren't machines for God's sake. Even machines develop faults when overstressed. I see no reason why we should take actions we will live to regret later. This is just the Capital One Cup. Yes, winning it isn't bad but we can't afford to lose better trophies. Besides, these youngsters have to be given chances to develop, they won’t become stars overnight, so games like the one we had last night are avenues for such processes.

We lost yesterday but it wasn’t just about crashing out of the COC but also losing vital players to injuries. One [The Ox] got injured five minutes into the game and another [Theo] who was brought in to replace him also suffered an injury thirteen minutes later. Not a nice one for us at all.

We have got tough games ahead of us and with our strong hold on the league table, we cannot afford to keep lengthening our injury list.

The manager already gave updates on those two injuries. According to him, the problem Chamberlain and Walcott are currently suffering from are muscular ones. He did not give a specific time for their return as he himself does not yet know how serious the issues are.

By the time he faces the press later in the week, scan results would have surfaced and we will get to know if we are on the safe side or not.

It is time we put last night’s defeat behind us and continue our struggles in the Premier and Champions Leagues believe we will bounce back. Swansea City are our next opponents, they are a strong side but with our usual team back, we should be able to clinch a win. Can’t wait to see the big boys back.
