Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Pep Guardiola at a time wanted to make a move to the Emirates Stadium.
According to the Arsenal boss, the former Barcelona man was keen on a transfer to North-London during his playing days.
Guardiola, in those days was a renowned defensive midfielder who left Barcelona in 2001 and when he was to make a switch, he wanted Arsenal but unfortunately, it did not work out so he had to go to Brescia.
Speaking to the press ahead of his side's Champions League game,Wenger said: "He wanted to play with me as a coach and he wanted to play for Arsenal.
"I met him at home - he was 30 or 31-years-old back then. I can’t really remember but he then went to Italy. I had players back then like [Patrick] Vieira and [Emmanuel] Petit who were still young.
"He showed great personality when we talked."
The Frenchman also commended his counterpart for his impact in the world of football. The 66-year-old said: "I admire that his teams play very positively - he has a positive attitude towards football and he’s a great coach."
The two managers will be in control of their respective sides by the time they lock horns at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
