Per Mertesacker Reveals the Player Arsenal Stars Want Back at the Club

There is an Arsenal player the rest of the squad want back at the Emirates Stadium, says captain Per Mertesacker. In his recent interview, he stated who this star is and why is absence is presently being felt despite already having An ideal replacement in his position.

Mertesacker has revealed that the Arsenal camp want to see Wojciech Szczesny back from his loan spell which he embarked on upon the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Despite Cech's outstanding performance so far this season, Szczesny is still greatly missed as he is a popular figure in the Arsenal dressing room.

"Wojciech wants to compete. I think he's a good goalkeeper and he can still develop," the Germany international told JD Football, according to the London Evening Standard. "The team wants him back - that's good for him.

"He's shown great character already in this team and I think he has got a bright future."

The return of the Polish international will not mean he will automatically fall back into the number one spot. He will face tough competition from greatly-steaming Petr Cech and David Ospina.

Szczesny has made nine league appearances for Roma this season and conceded eight goals altogether. He will likely end the current season as a league champion because Roma who are now in third position are favourites to win the Scudetto.
