Arsenal defender, Mathieu Debuchy has hinted on a possible transfer away from the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window.
The Frenchman who signed for the Gunners from Newcastle United in the summer of 2014 is frustrated as he has lost his place at right-back to Hector Bellerin as a result of a double injury blow.
Debuchy's debut season was marred by an ankle ligament damage and a shoulder injury which made him only able to appear in ten Premier League games last season, and upon his return, he found out that Bellerin has permanently filled in that spot, thus making the 30-year-old fall to the bench.
The defender who still has a deal which will span till 2019 has unleashed his displeasure with his lack of regular games. He hopes to get things fixed up before January and from his quotes, one could infer that he will have to demand a move if he fails to get what he desires by the time the year runs out.
"It's certain that being on the bench every weekend is not easy for me to handle," Debuchy, who is currently under contract until June 2019 and has also appeared in the Capital One Cup this season, said, as relayed by the Daily Mail. "It's the first time for me in my career."
"I am putting up with it and trying to stay mentally strong, but it's true that sometimes it's more difficult than at other times, when in your mind things are complicated. It's a case of staying focused until December and then we'll see what happens after that."
Debuchy got an opportunity to create an impression in the absence of Bellerin but did not do enough to put doubts on our minds as to who is better at right-back at the moment and with the imminent return of Hector from a groin injury llayoff, Debuchy is set to return to the bench. Frustration continues!
