Arsene Wenger Delivers Fresh Injury Update Ahead of Boxing Day Clash

Ahead of the trip to Southampton on Boxing day, Arsene Wenger has held a pre-match press conference where he discussed several topics. In this update, we will be revealing the latest Arsenal injury news as disclosed by the boss.

None of the injured Arsenal players will be ready on Saturday, according to the Frenchman, so expect to see a squad not so different from the one that played against Manchester City on Monday night.

Alexis Sanchez will have to wait a bit. We expected him back in our last game but unfortunately, he suffered a setback on his way to recovery from a hamstring injury. This means he will now be sidelined till around mid-January. As for captain Arteta (calf), he is progressing well but will not be available for the weekend game at St. Mary's.

Jack Wilshere has been ruled out through a factured fibula since the eve of our Community Shield victory over Chelsea. He has failed to meet up with various return dates and is now slated for the early period of the New Year. He is recovering well.

Welbeck, Cazorla, Coquelin and Rosicky are long term absentees who will be available by next year. In total, we will have seven first team stars missing for our visit to Southampton.
