Despite being in a comfortable zone on the table, Kenny Cunningham still has fears regarding the chances Arsenal have got to win the Premier League.
The Gunners currently sit in second place, just two points behind bizarre leaders Leicester City, following their 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Monday night.
Arsene Wenger's men boast the best defensive record in the league in the moment having conceded just 14 goals in 17 games.
Nevertheless, ex Republic of Ireland defender Cunningham still thinks there is a weak link at the centre of the Arsenal defence which might end up making them lose the title if the issue is not addressed promptly. According to him, the weak link is Per Mertesacker.
“I still feel Arsenal have a small bit of a soft centre with the partnership of Mertesacker and Koscielny,” Cunningham told Newstalk’s Off The Ball.
“But such is the quality that Arsenal have in the other areas of the pitch, they might be able to still win the league title despite the small weakness in the form of Mertesacker.”
Arsenal have lost three league games out of seventeen so far this season [Westham, Chelsea and Westbromwich Albion]. They will continue their battle against struggling Southampton this Saturday before facing Bournemouth on Monday.
What do you think of Cunningham's view? Do you also agree that Per is a kill joy to our title bid?
