Arsenal are set to welcome one of their players back from the injury room by the time they play in the Premier League against Newcastle United on January 2.
Mathieu Flamini missed out of the Gunners 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Monday as a result of an ankle injury. The decision to leave the Frenchman out of that game was a precautionary one, according to Arsene Wenger and he has today confirmed that Flamini should be avaiable for their next game.
What is unclear is whether he will return straight into the starting lineup or watch Calum Chambers who was outstanding in his absence take his place once again.
On Alexis Sanchez, the manager stated that Saturday will be too early for the Chilean international. He expects him to make a return when Arsenal begin their FA Cup outing against Sunderland.
Mikel Arteta is also short for the weekend even though he has resumed training. All other players who were fit when they played Bournemouth are all okay except for the fact that a number of them are battling fatigue having played twice within three days. They should have overcome every tiredness in them before Saturday.
