Midfielder Set to Fly in to Complete Arsenal Move. Medical to Follow

This news has been making the headlines in the media for some days now and when it first surfaced, some of us looked at it like every other transfer rumour we've heard in the past that never came to pass. The case might be different this time.

Arsenal are reportedly keen on getting a defensive midfielder in the coming transfer window, and recently, news sprung up that they are already in talks with Basel for the signing of Mohamed Elneny.

This report has been further strengthened by some top sources like The Mirror and Daily Mail as they claim a £5million deal has been agreed by Arsenal and the Swiss club pending the opening of winter transfer activities in January. BBC Sport's David Ornstein also confirmed it.

The long-term absence of Francis Coquelin and the rumoured exits of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini by the end of the present season are factors warranting the recruitment of the 23-year-old Egyptian midfielder.

Elneny who will need a work permit to ply his trade in London is expected to fly to Arsenal to complete a move this week. A medical is to follow afterwards. He will be eligible to play for us in the Champions League.

Many of us knew nothing about Elneny before now and so we are concerned about his capabilities. Well, Wenger started it so let's hope he will be a good addition. Afterall, we never knew the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal before they joined us.
