Two Arsenal Stars Break English Premier League Records

Arsenal bounced back after losing 4-0 to Southampton on Saturday and in Monday's game which ended 2-0, Mesut Ozil created a new record for the present season.

The German international provided the assist for the first goal which was scored by Gabriel Paulista before going on to double the lead in the second half. All through the game, he created a total of nine chances, something no player in the Premier League had done so far in the 2015/16 season.

It is no big surprise that this is coming from him, considering the kind of player he is. We all know Ozil to be that creative type who is capable of carving great things out of nothing and that we saw him do yesterday. The only saddening thing is that most of those chances he created were not well utilized.

In the same game, Petr Cech was able to break an existing Premier League record. Arsenal's clean sheet against Bournemouth saw the goalkeeper clinch the record for the most clean sheets in the history of the Premier League. Amazing!

David James was the previous holder of that record with 169 cleansheets but he has been surpassed at the moment by Cech who hit 170 clean sheets in 352 Premier League games.

Arsenal have moved top of the Barclays Premier League table after that win and will at least remain there till Leicester City play Manchester City on Wednesday.

Good to see our team end the year 2015 and also the first half of the season in grand style. Next game is against Newcastle United this Saturday. Lest I forget, our blog, this one you are currently on, hit one million pageviews just few minutes after the Arsenal v Bournemouth game. Fantastic! A big 'Thank you' to you for making this possible.
