Arsenal Midfield Maestro Bags Three Awards

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has bagged three different awards for his outstanding performance in the year 2015.

The 27-year-old pass master was voted Vitality Player of the Month for December, PFA Fans' Player of the Month for December, while also emerging German of the Year.

He beat Olivier Giroud and Petr Cech who scooped second and third spots respectively to the Vitality Player award. This means he has won the award three consecutive times having previously claimed it in October and November.

Ozil did not gain recognition from his club alone, he also got rewarded by fans of clubs across the league, thereby winning the December PFA Fans' Player Award poll. Also in contention were Watford's Odion Ighalo and Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez. Ozil was also the winner in November.

The third honour came from the readers of ‘Ist Nicht Vorhanden‘ magazine, who cast their votes for him as the German of the Year.

A statement from the publication read: “He is like a hummingbird that has learned how to sing instead of hum, and the song he serenades us with is a thing of beauty – like seeing a pack of lions devour a baby zebra before resting majestically in the sunset of the Serengeti. Truly, he blesses all of our rains.“

The German international's five assists and one goal last month helped Arsenal climb to the top of the table, a spot where Leicester City had occupied for too long. Ozil is the player with the highest assists all over Europe's top five leagues so far this season.
