FINALLY: Arsenal Confirm Mohamed Elneny Signing

The wait is finally over! Arsenal have confirmed the signing of FC Basel's Mohamed Elneny on the club's official website this afternoon. Sorry it's coming a bit late, I was in the lecture theatre all day so I couldn't provide the info earlier.

The deal for the Egyptian midfielder was on hold for about two weeks as a result of work permit acquisition issues but as we speak, that hurdle has been scaled and he is now a Gunner. Yes, he has already put on the red and white stripes.

During his 3-year reign in Switzerland, Elneny featured in more than 90 league games for Basel. He won three Super League titles during his stay.

The 23-year old midfielder recorded 28 appearances and six goals in all competitions in the first phase of the present season before making a switch to the Emirates Stadium. He is eligible to play in the Champions League for Arsenal.

Arsenal reportedly paid a £5million fee to secure his services and he is expected to earn around £60 000 per week. Please note that this is not an official revelation. It was only gotten from third-party sources.

Welcome Elneny! We hope to see you blend into our team so fast as we wish you a successful stay with us.

Now that we have made our first signing in the January transfer window, what next? Are we going to see more of these? Time will tell. In Wenger we trust, he knows best!
