'Wenger, Sign a Striker and Win the League' - Jimmy Bullard

'Wenger, Sign a Striker and Win the League' Jimmy Bullard

Ahead of Sunday’s huge London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea at The Emirates Stadium, former Premier League star, Jimmy Bullard, has called on Arsene Wenger to sign a world class centre forward to secure his side’s first Premier League title since 2004.

Bullard, who was speaking at a Carling Shirt Amnesty event, believes it’s a two horse race between the Gunners and Manchester City for the Premier League crown and that Arsenal could have the edge if they strengthen up front.

“It’s definitely between those two for me. Leicester are obviously up there too, but City and Arsenal just have too much power for anyone else to challenge. City haven’t even got into gear yet and Arsenal have plenty of players to come back from injury, especially the boy Sanchez who will give them a much needed boost. If they can also sign another striker during the transfer window then I think they’ll be the favourites. Giroud has done well and chipped in with a few goals, but he isn’t on the same level as the likes of Sanchez”.

Bullard also believes that Tottenham could challenge, but thinks they are too reliant on Harry Kane and need reinforcements to shoot up the table.

“At the moment he seems to be starting and playing every game and they just need to be careful not to burn him out. Tottenham won’t get a better chance to win the league, but I just see them falling a bit short, especially if they get one or two injuries on the way”

Jimmy Bullard was talking as part of Carling Shirt Amnesty, an initiative giving football supporters throughout the UK the chance to swap a football shirt with the name of a recently sold player on the back, for a brand new one free of charge.
