It has been revealed by an Arsenal player that the club's manager, Arsene Wenger blocked his attempted move to a rival club last month.
According to Mathieu Debuchy, his last-minute hope of signing for Manchester United on the last day of the January transfer window hit the rock as Wenger did not allow the loan switch go through.
He was however loaned out to Bordeaux where he is expected to be for the rest of the 2015/16 season. This decision did not go too well for the ex-Newcastle United right-back.
The French defender disclosed this while speaking during an interview with Canal+: "It would have been magnificent," he said of a move to Old Trafford.
"I discussed it with the coach, who said that obviously he couldn't help out a rival, "Debuchy told French television channel Canal+:
"Unfortunately it wasn't the case. Yes, I'm a little bit annoyed with him. It's his choice."
Debuchy lost his place in the first team to Hector Bellerin who ever since he started playing in that spot, had established himself as a maestro. This frustrated him a lot, so he just had to request a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
