Arsenal have confirmed their second signing of the year on their official website and this seems to be an indication that they are ready for big things this summer.

After the signing of Mohamed Elneny some months back, the Gunners have completed the capture of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The fee paid by Arsenal for the Switzerland international was not stated by the club. However, reliable sources have it that the former Basel man cost £35million.

The 23-year-old who was the captain of Borussia Monchengladbach has been signed on a long term deal at the Emirates. He will be out of contract at the end of June, meaning he will fully become a Gunner by July 1.

He has already been unveiled by the club and he is expected to join the rest of his teammates by the end of the Euro 2016 competition.

Xhaka’s acquisition is a nice one as his quality will partly help to cover the void left by the departures of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

The midfielder has raked a total of 41 caps for the Switzerland national side.
