Arsenal legend and football pundit Thierry Henry says he needs an explanation as to why Jamie Vardy is prolonging proceedings which will have a positive effect on his future.

Having activated his release clause of  £20million, Henry feels the Leicester man should have wasted no time in agreeing to make a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have already tabled a four year contract which will see the star earn £120 000-a-week but the English international is still finding it difficult to decide whether to join the Gunners or remain with the side where he won the Premier League last season.

The delay has prompted Henry to speak out on behalf of his former side who are greatly in need of someone like Vardy who can give them the number of goals they need to secure silverware.

Vardy says he needs some more time to make a choice but Henry sees no reason why he should contemplate over joining Arsenal or remaining at Leicester City.

“He’s 29. You have Arsenal coming for you and you’re telling them ‘I’m going to think about it’?”

“Well, all I can say is you [Vardy] have another proposition on the table or Arsenal doesn’t seem attractive to you anymore.

“He had an amazing season, don’t get me wrong. That will go down in the history of the game.

“But I have a question mark about whether he can play in the last third when another team is sitting deep.

“I think he’s been brilliant, I’m just asking myself questions along the way.

“All I can say is, if I was playing for Leicester and I’m 29 and I have Arsenal coming, I would have gone, but I’m not Jamie Vardy.”

It is believed the player will decide where he will be playing next season by the time the ongoing European Championship comes to a close.

  1. It is even an insult for him to dilly dally in making up his mind.you don't get this kind of offer from a club like Arsenal often.Should Arsenal find another potent striker, we should dump him period, an insult indeed.

  3. I can assure you that he is sure as hell having a hard time deciding where he plays next season. I think all should try and understand his plight and give the boy, oh! sorry, the man a brake.
