Having completed their first signing of the summer in Granit Xhaka, Arsenal are on the verge of making it two in no time.

Their forward line is one department where they have lacked some spark in recent times and to address this issue, the North-Londoners are said to be in contention to capture Alvaro Morata who has in no way concealed his intention of playing for them.

As part of preparations to sign the Spanish international, Arsene Wenger has previously sent out scouts to monitor the progress of the 23-year-old striker, the same way they did before Xhaka was officially made an Arsenal player.

Reliable sources have it that Xhaka was watched for about 30 times, something which made him uncomfortable along the line, and Morata's case is not expected to be an exception.

It is expected that Wenger will act fast and secure his signing before the Euro competition so as to ward off competition from other European giants who may develop interest if the star has a nice outing with Spain during the tournament.

Morata scored two goals in Spain's 6-1 friendly match victory over South Korea on Wednesday.
