Reports that Arsenal are considering a cash-plus-player swap deal which will lead to Olivier Giroud's exit from the Emirates Stadium has been resurrected.

This news was making the headlines few weeks back but had to be laid to rest after the agent of the French striker revealed that there was nothing of such, labeling the speculations 'false'.

Some hours ago, tables turned as .Luca Pessina of La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Gunners are in talks to sign Argentine international Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan and according to him, they will go as far as paying £29million plus Giroud in a bid to secure the transfer.

The agent of Giroud is said to be negotiating with the San Siro outfit over a switch despite the reluctance of the new owners of the club to let their captain leave. The fact that the offer Arsenal is putting forward is a tempting one might however make them have a change of mind.

Whether the news is genuine or not is what one cannot ascertain right now. Many a times, it is difficult to detect if a particular transfer news is a mere frame up or not. The reason for the doubt over this report is that Arsene Wenger recently stated that Giroud will be his top striker for the coming season, so I see no reason why he will want to act contrary to his earlier statement. We will get to know the truth as time goes on.

  1. For real, i see no difference between both players.... Going scoreless for 10 matches and above is a minus for any striker
