Predicted Lineup For Arsenal's Champions League Game Against Basel

Arsenal will look to secure a win in the Champions League against Basel at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night after recording a draw against PSG in their opening match. The presence of the likes of Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla will give Arsenal an upper hand against Basel. Odds at Bet365 are currently 4/11 for an Arsenal win.

David Ospina could be Wenger's favourite for Arsenal's Champions League game against Basel. The Colombian had an impressive game against PSG and Wenger apparently confirmed that he will play more Champions League games for the Gunners this season ahead of Petr Cech.

Per Mertesacker is currently on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury. Therefore, he is automatically out of the Basel game. Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal will occupy the full back positions. There is no doubt that the partnership between Arsenal's new boy Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny is a very strong one going by their performances last weekend and the boss will have no option than to field them on Wednesday night.

Francis Coquelin and Aaron Ramsey are both unavailable as they are currently nursing injuries. The best bet here is to field Gratin Xhaka alongside Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil in the midfield while Walcott and Alex Iwobi are the favourites to be on the flanks.

Lastly, Arsene Wenger wouldn't have wanted to leave Olivier Giroud out of the squad to play against Basel but going by his current suspension after being booked by the referee during the Champions League game against PSG, he will be unavailable on Wednesday. However, Alexis Sanchez has proved that he is capable of delivering upfront and this makes him the man for the striking role against Basel.

This is how the team is likely to look like:

David Ospina, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Gratin Xhaka, Alex Iwobi, Alexis Sanchez.
