A 4-1 win away at the Stadium of Light put Arsenal at the top of the table even though they only occupied that position for a short period.

Alexis Sanchez's first half bullet header gave the Gunners the lead which would later be improved by Olivier Giroud who came off the bench in the second half. The Frenchman added a brace via a volley and a superb header before the first scorer finished it all up with a fourth for Arsene Wenger's men.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who scored a brace during Arsenal's EFL Cup fourth round fixture against Reading on Tuesday was the provider of the cross which led to the first goal.

Olivier Giroud's first goal of the match came from a cross too, courtesy Kieran Gibbs while his second was birthed from a corner from Mesut Ozil.

Gibbs' shot hit the post, Ramsey's got blocked then Alexis tapped in from close range to seal the win.

It was altogether a nice result and the return of Olivier Giroud after a month on the sidelines was a remarkable one. He has now scored six goals in seven appearances against Sunderland.
