The transition of Hector Bellerin from the Arsenal youth side to the first team, coupled with the fact that he is arguably the best right-back in the Premier League has attracted many big clubs in Europe to him. This includes his childhood club, Barcelona.
However, the Spanish youngster in an interview as reported by the Evening Standard has stated his desire to remain with Arsenal on the long run. According to him, he loves the club and is not in any way disturbed by external interests.
‘If I wanted to play there [at Barcelona] I would have stayed there, I was very happy when Arsenal showed interest in me and I decided to come here. I’m not looking back, I’m just looking to help Arsenal.’
‘It’s nice for a player to know that big teams want you but I’m very happy here. I’ve still got three years left on my contract so I’m just focused on playing every single week, improving and hopefully making things happen here at Arsenal. I’m not in a rush to extend the contract. I’m happy. I’m comfortable. I want to be here a long time.’
Bellerin has done exploits for the Gunners at right-back and this is why Rio Ferdinand said that he is the best in that position in England. His pace is an added advantage for the team who are currently in a superb form.
He missed out of Arsenal's Champions League win over Ludogorets last Tuesday but is expected to be passed fit for the North-London derby on Sunday.
