Jack Wilshere has revealed why he had to leave Arsenal for Bournemouth during the most recent summer transfer window.

The English midfielder fell off the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium after staying out for too long through injury and so had to look elsewhere.

The 24-year-old who is currently on a season-long loan spell at Bournemouth said in a chat that he had to leave in order to get more playtime, thereby securing his place in the England national squad.

“There’s no better feeling than playing week in and week out in the Premier League,” Wilshere said in today’s matchday programme.

“At Arsenal, that wasn’t happening. I came back from injury and I was on the bench and I knew that to give myself the best opportunity to play for England and improve myself as a player, I had to move.

“At the moment, it’s going well. I really like the manager and it’s a good set of lads, we all get on really well and it’s looking like we have a good team as well, we’re improving every week and we work hard.”
Wilshere's hope of geting regular play at Arsenal was a bleak one even before the arrival of Granit Xhaka. The signing of the Swiss star finally pushed him off the line at the club.
