Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez for Best Player Award FIFA

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been named on the 23-man shortlist for The Best FIFA Men's Player 2016.

You would recall that the world's football governing body recently pulled out as co-organisers of the Ballon d'Or and this has led to the birthing of this one.

The shortlist for the award includes two of our own who have no doubt been greatly influential for us this year. They finally got recognized having previously been left out of the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or.

The outcome of this award will be determined by national team captains and coaches (1st set), and an online ballot by fans and over 200 selected media representatives (2nd set). Fifty percent goes for the first set while the remaining fifty percent goes for the second.

You can take a look at the full list below. As expected, it contains no name from our noisy yid neighbours - Spurs.

Sergio Agüero (Argentina/Manchester City)
Gareth Bale (Wales/Real Madrid)
Gianluigi Buffon (Italy/Juventus)
