According to reports in the Daily Star, Westham United are planning a raid on Arsenal as they aim to secure the services of Carl Jenkinson.

The England international has been out of action since January as a result of a knee injury he sustained while on loan at Westham.

Jenkinson signed a two-year loan deal with the East-London club but had to terminate it before the normal time all because of his fitness issue. He returned to action for Arsenal when they played Reading in the EFL Cup few weeks back before making the squad to face Ludogorets in the Champions League.

Now that he is back in the Arsenal team, his previous loaners are said to want him back and are set to make a bid for him by the time the winter transfer window opens in January.

A West Ham source said: “Carl’s injury was a real shame. He was doing well at the club and we liked him. Would we have tried to sign him? Probably.”

It remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger will let go of this youngster who has stepped up his game ever since.
