Arsenal are not just looking to secure new signings by the time the winter transfer window opens in January but are also aiming to tie down their current employees to new contracts.
One of the players that fall in the second category is Olivier Giroud who signed for Arsenal from Montpellier for a fee of £9.6 million in the summer of 2012.
The Frenchman whose contract expires soon has been linked with a move away in recent weeks. The sources claim he is unhappy having lost his starting spot to Alexis Sanchez.
The striker has however debunked such claims. He said he will remain and sign a new deal when the offer comes his way.
Giroud also tagged speculations that he has already signed an improved contract at the Emirates Stadium as 'false'.
“People have been saying I have signed a new contract, but that is not true. Maybe soon, though,” Giroud said as quoted by Goal.
“I came back a bit late from the Euros and it was nice for my body because I could rest but not good for me because the team was doing well and another striker was doing well up front.
“This season has been difficult because also I was injured for a month and a half so it has not been easy.”
