Alexis Sanchez has once again missed the chance of being named the Chilean Player of the Year.

Despite scoring three goals and grabbing four assists in six appearances at the 2016 Copa America tournament, the Arsenal forward still lost the crown to Barcelona's Arturo Vidal.

It is believed Vidal got the annual award because besides winning the Copa America, he also lifted the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich last season.

Sanchez has now lost the award for two consecutive years. Last year's edition went to Manchester City's goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo, who was playing for Barcelona at that time.

No controversy would have sprung up had Sanchez won it but it looks as if the lack of titles at the club level is what affected him. Let's hope he gets a reasonable title with Arsenal soon so that his chances of winning awards at the international level would increase.
