Defender Reveals Why the English Premier League Is STRANGE

The English Premier league is one of the few football leagues in the world that fails to give its participants a break at Christmas and New Year.

This is something many of us have questioned even though we love the fact that we still got the chance to watch our teams during the yuletide.

What makes this tradition more worrying is that the players get to play too many matches at a time when they should be easing themselves off the compounded stress of the first half of the season.

We are not the only ones who see this as something strange. Gabriel Paulista, the Brazilian does also.  The defender in an interview stated that it is not something normal.

“Brazilians are used to celebrating the festive season, it is strange,” he said.

“It feels a bit strange to be playing on Christmas Day or on New Year’s Day.

“It’s indeed unusual for us. But I’ve already put this new reality in my head and I’m focused on my job. Let’s leave the party for later.”

With Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker still out through injury, Gabriel will have no choice than to adapt to the culture of playing many games during the festive period. His services will be highly needed in the next few weeks.
