We were all feeling happy at a point in the season because the rate at which our players got injured as compared to previous seasons was low but at the moment, the story has changed.

Arsenal now has too many names on its injury list and in this post, we will take a look at some of them. Our focus will be on the fitness situations of Shkodran Mustafi, Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker.

Mustafi has no doubt been greatly missed in our last two games. Our two consecutive losses to Everton and Manchester City says it all.

The centre-back injured his hamstring just 24 minutes into our 3-1 win against Stoke City and has since been ruled out for at least three weeks

Ahead of our game with Westbrom this weekend, the German international took to Instagram to post a video of himself doing some gym work. He is on his way to recovery from what we saw in the clip. However, our next two games will be too early for him.

Cazorla is another star whose absence hasn't gone unnoticed since he injured his Achilles back in October.

He was expected to return in November but a surgery he underwent early this month has pushed his comeback date further. The little magician should be back by March.

Having been out for seven months, Welbeck will still have to wait a bit to return to the pitch for first team football even though he has started training last week.

If he does not suffer a setback in his knee injury recovery, then he should be back in action early in 2017.

Mertesacker has a similar case to Welbeck in that he has not also played at all this season and is back in training too. The German has been out since pre-season and should beging featuring for us again in january.

The latest Arsenal player to have become a customer at the injury table is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He came in as a substitute during our 2-1 loss to City but couldn't finish up after being hit with a hamstring problem.

Reports say he is definitely out of our Boxing Day clash with West Bromwich Albion. How long he will be out is still unknown as assessment is still on. We should get to know this when the boss faces the press later in the week.

A greater percentage of those on the list are to return in time for the second half of the season if all goes as planned which will will be a big boost for us.
